Re:Drills to improve quickness - 2008/03/01 07:45 Good points. Your post is actually the best evidence I have seen for Intelligym. As you wrote about fighter pilots and fire fighters, I kept thinking that is exactly what you want point guards to be able to do, although on a much less serious level. Intelligym was originally designed for Israeli fighter pilots.

I think it also backs the Game for Understanding approach to teaching skills. Too often we drill skills in isolation, though everything in a game is dependent on the defense. Without teaching and training skills against live defenders, there is no transfer.

Re:Drills to improve quickness - 2008/03/02 22:26 Funny you mention Intelligym, because I too was thinking of it the whole time I was writting that post. I bought it a year ago and loaded it on the home computer. The version I bought gives you 2 users. I tried it myself a couple times. But I had really got it for my 15 year old PG daughter who has been very self motivated for well over a year now. But she never tried it, says she forgot about it and I don't push her anymore so I never brought it up.

She will be the Varsity PG for the next 2 years, and she's pretty good with passing the ball to the correct color uniforms... until she gets fatigued. Then she can go on "turnover binges." Maybe the mental fatigue indiced by Inteligym would really help her. I'll report back later, as she says she plans to use it now that the seaon is over.
