Re:Potential - 2007/10/12 14:52
Just the other day, the head coach at my school taught me what real fundamental basketball was all about. He taught me how there are so many options for the offensive player and moves ive never even thought about. I was playing coach one on one and i cut him off baseline, then instead of trying to muscle me past baseline he just turned and inversed layup the other direction. I think people don't reach their potential because they are too focused on the athleticism of basketball. They don't get creative and think unless they are born with the athleticism they can't be successful. I know i hear my friends saying oh wow, i lost because that guy is taller than me, or he's faster, or he's bigger, or he can dunk, but thats no excuse. There are plenty of options to do. Its part of the reason why i love basketball so much, you really don't have to be athletic at all. Anyone can be successful. If someone cuts you off, you spin and you beat them or change of direction, then you drive, pull it back, hit the jumper or hesitate and drive again, then hop stop pump fake twice and go under them. I doubt if you do that, the defense will be able to stop you. I know i had a problem with not being creative enough, but now that i knwo there are so much more options im a little closer to reaching my full potential then i was before.
