Re:HS Weight Training Program - 2007/07/23 02:56
It's a good book. I have the NASM-PES certification, and Dr. Clark is the President of the NASM, so I may be a little biased. However, I hurt my groin messing around doing squats and stuff while standing on a stability ball and nothing helped the injury get better until I decided to actually go through the OPT program.
It's tough, for me, because I am used to higher intensity work, but I think the book offers a good program, especially for the time constraints of a high school program. I also think you could make some additions or changes and do much of the work on the court pre or post practice to save time.
I'm actually torn between incorporating workouts like in my boxing classes, basically high repetition body weight exercises, or a similar system to OPT or a more traditional Olympic lifting type workout. I play with ideas on a daily basis and have yet to reach a consensus.
