sore quads - 2008/03/28 02:59 My son has been having a problem with quad stiffness and soreness, sorta like cramping but not exactly, that comes on during basketball or track practice. It's different than muscles getting tired during exercise or muscles getting sore the next day or two after exercise.

Ideas? Does it sound like a muscle imbalance or range of motion problem?

Re:sore quads - 2008/03/28 18:00 yeah, I'd be really interested to hear an infomed answer to this question, because I see this with young athletes too.

Have you had him get up on a foam roller? One thing I've noticed about the self myofascial work is that it will almost always help at least some, and it often helps a lot. And if it's hurting, even a 10% reduction can be huge.
